Why do people put S4 badges on A4's?

That's not good in anyone's book - Don't you need a V8 under the hood...?

It happens the world over. We have sightings over here in the UK of 'mystery' S4's. How about a 1.9TDi 'S4'....? The diesels don't even have tailpipes FFS!!!!!!!
However my car is an S-line and I have an 'S' on the rear. I thought the 1.8t just looked lame. So now I have matching S's all round - Rear doors, Steering wheel, Sill covers and Tailgate...........
I don't like the de-badged look. As mentioned you can order a car over here with no badges (can you not in NA?)
I think the car's looks more discreet with no engine size badge and I think the 's' is contemporary with the car. Unlike S4 or even RS4!!!!!!!

maybe it was an S4 with the ultrasport front valence?
someone on the S4 forum did that.
But if it really was an ultrasport..i feel sorry for the dude b/c he has to lie to himself like that. I'm all for having S4 cosmetic parts on our A4's, but when someone puts an S4 badge on..that's something else in my book. Anyway, I think most people couldnt care less what badge he has on. He better hope no one tries to race him...

"tribute badge" to what...the car that never existed or was even thought of? LOL
or just a tribute to something that he'll never afford? Its like the people who badge a Honda with a Benz badge or even an Audi one....i get goose bumps just thinking about it. Its cool not everyone gets a Ferrari in life but its always fun to dream. Maybe that was his only wish.
