Default Why does the wipers always leave scartch on the windshield?

I had change 3 wipers in the past six months, and everytime it rain the wipers will just leave scarthes across the windshield. It really bug me, but thanks god all the wipers replaced were free of charge.
How can I solved this problem?! The service guys in my dealer can give me no advice but tell me that they will replace the wipers free of charge and everthing would be alright, however, the problems keep arising over and over again!!!

I also had this problem with 2 of my old C-Class, toyota Previa and E-Class before. But my old Mercury villager' s wipers worked the best in all of the cars I' ve owned, the wipers can last at least two years.

Does anybody notice that German and Japenese cars makers, all put the wrong amount of pressure on the wipers? I noticed domestic car' s wipers can last much longer. I guess there' s at least one thing good with the domestic cars and that' s their wipers=).

Default I hope you mean streaks, because if your wipers are scratching your winshield that would mean...

metal is in contact w/ the glass. If after new refills are installed and you continually get streaking, then I would ask the dealer to replace the entire blade.

Default actually many Audi and VW owners have this problem.

It is a known fact that VW/Audi uses very soft glass. I don't know what people have done about it though.

Default blade gets dirt, rail dust, etc on it... it rubs, and scratches.

damn recycled (so i hear) soft glass and stupid enviro regulations in germany. hehe, we can destroy the enviroment a lil more to have non soft paint/glass on our cars... right? cuz we're more impt than those who drive fords or hondas... oh wait, this isnt the bmw fourm. heh. but really, it sucks. the windsheild on our 11 old explorer with 300k miles is not too much worse than mine right now, and i always try not to use my wipers.

Default For me it was the deflector on the driver's side

wiper. It somehow slipped out of its groove and was making contact with the glass whenever the wiper arm would sweep. Dealer is replacing for free when I go in for the 20k service.
