Default Why NOT get staggered wheel sizes?

Why is staggered not good for Quattro? I want 19x9 or 19x9.5 in the rear and 19.8x5's in the front...what would this do to Quattro? I know TCM GLX did it..and people add spacers to wheels all the time to give them a bit more width, so what would be the problems associated with this?

Default Staggered wheels don't help stability...

Those extra millimeters of footprint in the rear won't help too much ever...in RWD cars, they help some with traction, but in a AWD car like the A4, all they do is **** with ESP and quattro, either a)depriving you of ESP, which does help stability in real-world (ie non-track) driving or b) burning up your brakes (which is expensive and can be dangerous)

How does porsche get away with staggered 8.5 front 10-13 rears on their AWD cars?

Default Do a search on Audizine...someone was explaining it...but I can't remember what he said

and don't want to spread disinformation....

he was running 19x8.5 in front and 19x10 in the back I think...

Default What are u talking about?

how would it mess with esp? As long as the rolling radius of f/r is similar enough, you should have no problems with staggered wheels and quattro. Porsche's system is kinda different b/c it is rwd-biased...but if I recall what I read in an article awhile back, that system has some constant slip in it due to a slightly larger front wheel rolling radius...so it will maintain rwd-bias in most conditions. hope that helps.
