I had that happen to my '97 A4. Could be leaky power steering fluid. How long ago did you buy it?

that's more likely the case. issues with the '97 started at 100k.

Default Mine does it...

Backing out of the driveway and turning the wheel to the left I get a kind of "scronch" noise... My last car (Infiniti J30) did the same...

Probably the power steering fluid is low. My new A4 leaked like a sieve. When I took it in, the woman next to me, who was at the dealer on a completely unrelated matter, explained that her A6 did the same thing when it was new. In fact, as soon as I explained the dealer immediately checked the power steering resevoir. I think Audi may be having problems with power steering fluid leaks.

Default That's normal

I had same experience and the AUDI delear told me that it's normal. It's something to do with ABS. Don't worry.
