Default I guess it depends on the dealer, but...

I wouldn't be surprised if a dealer refused to replace (for free) stock rotors which have been chewed up by aftermarket brake pads.

And no, you do not need to replace the rotors at the same time, unless they're worn out.

Default Mintex made the OEM pads for the Gen1 A4, I wonder who makes them for the Gen 2??

If Mintex, then the dealer would never notice. The Gen1 OEM Mintex pads just had a different pad material than the Mintex Red Box ones. European Gen1 A4 had a different pad material than the US spec cars and it probably was the Red Box material.

Default Do you have a 1.8 or 3.0? My 3.0 isn't that bad for brake dust....

compared to the '97 OEM pads that would turn the wheels black with one 40 mile round trip to work and back. The Red Box would leave hardly any dust for a month! I have a set of Mintex Red Box pads for my 3.0 which I will install if the 3.0 dust gets worse. Right now I can't see much dust and I haven't washed the car in 400 miles of 50% city/50% highway up/down mountains.

Default They don't use Mintex any more on the gen1 cars

It's either Hawk or Ferrodo now I think. Definitely it is not Mintex.
