Today I had the opportunity to open my sunroof for the first time, WOW what is up with the wind noise. The noise was SO loud and pressure SO high that my ears hurt. I then closed the roof and started playing with different combinations of windows open, the worst occurred when I opened both back winds about 6 to 7 inches and was going 20 mph.
PLEASE do not tell me this is normal.....
I have owned four other cars with moon/sun roofs, NONE made this much noise.

If you open the sunroof a few clicks less than full, it doesn't make nearly as much noise. There's even a special indent in the sunroof **** to show you where to set it (and it's mentioned in the manual).
You can also just open a back window a little bit to let the pressure escape and that will quiet things down.

on my Passat the buffeting would vary depending on the day, temp and barometric pressure. What usually stopped the noise was moving the sunroof close little by little till it stopped. Sometimes I would only have to move it less than an inch. I never had to open any other windows.

When you look at the dial itself select one of the settings where the marker is not filled in (believe theres 3), and select one of those settings. I believe they are formally known as comfort settings. This will solve your problem.

there's a reason there is a "Comfort" setting.
if the car wasn't so tight and sound proof, you'd be complaining about the outside noise...gotta give one for the other.
