Default Is the windshield of our A4 coated?

Asking cause I wanna use a navigation system and place the antenna on the dash.

I know French cars have some sort of metal coating which causes problems with transmissions to automated toll road systems. They have a small gap in the coating behind the rearview mirror for the signal to pass.

Default Hmmm, never heard of such a coating on our windows.

You'll probably be OK. I've used my Valentine One radar detector numerous times and I've had no problems.

Default Eurodan are you in Europe, is your car a real European model.....

Or is it a North american model. I believe in Europe the widshield is coated with an extra layer of a plastic type material (unknown composition to me) in case of accidents that will keep the windscreen from shattering and not destroy your face if you were going to hit it.

Safety glass. Piece of clear plastic sandwiched between 2 pieces of glass.

Default According to Audi ...

The interior and exterior mirrors are coated with an electrochromic coating (aka auto dim)

The windows are coated with an ultra-thin silver-based coating that reflects heat radiation and at the same time, thanks to its high conductivity, allows windows to be heated without the need for wires

Default Yes they do but the stuff in N/A is not the same......

Many of the injuries to people not using their seat belts that end up hiiting the windshield get severe facial cuts. I saw a documentory once on this and they said the German cars in Europe had this extra protection and it was under test in the U.S. in Police cars of all things. It was not certified yet so it was not available to regular cars. This was several years ago.
