Default question: my headlight washers aren't working, would that cause the fuse to burn out?

My car is over four years old, I've never had the common fuse problem with the washer pumps. Last week, the fuse burnt, but I discovered upon replacing it that the headlight washers don't work. Could it be that it's adding additional load on to the system which caused the fuse to burn out?

BTW, thanks for your advice on the timing belt change a few weeks back. The shop did my car. New timing belt/water pump/thermostat, tensioners, rollers, valve cover gaskets, cam seals, serpentine belt.

Default AFAIK there is no seperate fuse for washer pump (more)

I bought the windshield pump for my wife's 2002 A4 1.8T (not the headlight pump) for 24 bucks at Advance auto parts, the pump was an exact fit part made in Europe, not a universal replacement that requires wire splicing. It took about 5 minutes to change after pulling the drivers side headlight out.

Default maybe here's a good place to complain about the life of a tank of fluid

does anyone else have this problem? I swear, the tank takes a gallon and a half of fluid... I have to add fluid every 3 weeks. where is it all going?! haha

Default For you, it doesn't last very long, for me, it lasts 6 months

I fill that sucker once a year, that's about it. It all depends on your usage.

Default What fuse # in the fuse box?

Because the sticker listing on the fuse box cover for 25 amp fuses on my wife's car show the following: fuse# 40 is a 25 amp for Horn and fuse# 42 is a 25 amp for the ESP. Those are the only factory 25 amp fuses on a 2002 A4 Quattro with a 1.8T motor and Tiptronic transmission with sport package.
The only Wiper/washer related fuses are shown as Fuse #36 30amp for wiper system and fuse #3 5amp for heated washer jets.

Default Strange, my 2003 A4 3.0 Quattro, Sport has 3 25 amp fuses

Horn, ESP, and washer pump. I have a separate one for the wipers, and I'm not sure where the heated washer jets fall, probably their own as well.
