Default Would the following factors contribute to my gas mileage on my 3.0 going down by 3 - 4 mpg....

on my 3.0 or should I be looking at another area that might cause the decrease mpg.

1) A slightly heavier right foot:
Ever since I did the suspension upgrades which made my previously non-sport A4 a ton more fun to drive I have noticed that I am hitting the gas harder, so that is probably one reason.

2) Heavier wheels and wider tires:
Use to run on stock 16's with 215 width tires, no running on 18's with 235 width tires.

So would those to factors account for an mpg loss in the 3-4 mpg range from averaging around 24-25mpg to the 21-22mpg range now?

Any other factors that I should be considering? Oil is change religously every 5K miles.
Always use 93 OCT gas and 90% of the time I fill up at the same Mobil station.

Your thoughts are welcome.
Thanks.

Default Check tire pressure...

Anything that could cause a pull to left or right might do it....I noticed that and ended up having a nice roofing nail in my tire.

Default In terms of mpg, the 3.0 is very sensitive to heavy throttle. I've noticed that when..

driving even mildly spirited, this sucker sucks down a lot more gas! It's also possible that the increase in rolling diameter has affected the mpg readout, but may actually even decreased fuel economy. It seems that when I'm riding on my stock 17" sport wheels/tires, I get better fuel economy than when driving on my 19's...even though the CH's weigh about the same as the stock wheels! I don't know if it's all in my head, but it also seems that I get better performance and fuel economy when I'm running with Mobile 1 0W-40 instead of the regular dino that's filled during Audi's 10k svc intervals.

yes and yes. right foot is big factor, and wheels might hurt a tiny bit.

Default I'm not 100% sure that I am going to keep them so I'll take the two I have on off.

I think I am getting a slight vibration so I was going to do a test on the same stretch of road to see if they are causing it or if it is a figment of my imagination.

Why don't you email me with you work address and I can come by either tomorrow or early week and return them.

ya, my guess is that he should raise his tire pressures a bit. I run 42psi on cold tires for 235/18

I'll try that. I've been at 38 psi on cold tires. Might be a tad low.
