Default X-post: Anyone here have any experiance with Continental ContiExtremeContact tires?

ve been looking at tire rack for new tires to replace the michelins ive had on since i got my car. These seem to get good reviews, and fairly closely match my search requirements.

Has anyone here ever owned a set of these tires?

Tire rack writeup<

I was between these and Falken Ziex ZE-512 last year on my RWD Nissan. Chose the ZE-512 because I didn't like the Conti sidewall and saw some flat-spotting complaint on heavy cars. CAnt comment on the Conti but, the Falkens were decent all seasons. decent in snow and good in summer.

i've heard good things about them.. nothing exceptional... but they are supposed to have decent grip, good tread wear, and ride well in the snow. however, they are on national backorder. i tried to order a set of 235/40-18s... nobody has them, and nobody seemed to know when they would get them in.

Default I considered these and the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S.

I went with the Pirellis and love them. Check them out on tirerack. Excellent reviews. I think they are great for year round use. Great in the snow. I got to test them out in a good amount of snow last year about a week after they went on.

Default I've been running a set of those since last winter.

No complaints. Great tires for the price.

Default I had a set of those, but they were defective...

out of round and side to side wobble. Created an awful vibration at speeds above 50 MPH. They balanced just fine, but you could still see side to side and up/down travel in the tire. Tire Rack took them back, no questions asked, for full refund. I think there have some issues with quality. Replaced with Pirelli PZeroNero M&S, love those tires!

Default Boston Driver... a question

Did Tire Rack acknowledge an ongoing problem? I just got some locally (Boston area) for my wife's 4-Motion wagon and have had them balanced twice. I still get a slight vibration above 70 and was beginning to wonder whether it might be something other than balance. The wheels on her car are pristine so it's not a wheel out of round. I have to say that I don't have a tremendous amount of confidence in the folks doing the balancing, so I may take it to my dealer and have them try before going back to ask for another set.

I've had them since last winter, very nice tires on all types of weather conditions.

Default I have them on my S4 and I like them, good on snow and wet..

I've read about being offround or vibrations, but I've taken them to 130+MPH (I wasn't really looking at the tach that particular moment) and it was very smooth.

Dry grip of course is less than the SportContact2 OEMs that I have for summer, but still is very decent.

Default Tire Rack did not acknowledge the problem, but they did not offer much resistance....

when I claimed taht they were out of round and I wanted to return them under the performance warranty. I was actually within COnti's warranty period, but I would have to replace them with Conti's, and I did not want this. Then the customer service rep offered to take them back under Tire Rack's 30 day money back warranty, even though the tires were already mounted, and I had them for almost 60 days. Again, they offered to take them back when I stated taht I believed that they were defective and did not want Conti's to replace them.

If you do a search on the conti out of round in the forums, you might see quite a few hits.

Good luck!
