Xenon headlight leveling
My daughter's 2002 A4 (50k miles) Xenon headlight leveling has stopped working. She first noticed it on a recent rainy night when a truck passed her on the right and splashed a large amount of muddy water on her hood. Within a matter of seconds thereafter, the "dynamic headlight dimmer control" warning light came on, and the headlights dropped down to their lowest position where they have remained. This could be coincidental, but it sounds like it may be related.
The high and low beam headlights themselves continue to work. I have check all fuses and they are okay. Any ideas on what component could be causing this, and recommended repair?

perhaps the levelling sensor was damaged? *edit*
iirc there is sensor located at front and the rear of the vehicle next to the suspension components (I can't remember if it is left or right side).
Check the mounting parts for the xenon self leveling sensors at the front and rear suspension. The parts must be tight and properly adjusted and the wiring harness connectors at the sensors must not be loose or contaminated. The great amount of dirt/mud/watter slung her way may have contiminated the sensor.
