Default IMHO, I'd have to disagree...

I had Sirius on a Kenwood HU/Kenwood Sirius tuner for 30 days. I have XM through an AUX In on the Kenwood via a SkyFi. Sirius sounded like crap, lots of digital artifacts and constant signal loss. XM doesn't send as much bass, but the highs were there and no artifacts.

Sirius has more bandwidth, but they don't use it since they're planning to stream video as well. Sirius also played the same songs in heavy rotation on multiple channels. The worst part about Sirius was their annoying DJs. If I wanted to hear annoying DJs, I'd listen to KISS-FM and Rick Dees.

Both Sat services are "line of sight" signals, i.e., without terestrial repeaters, the antenna has to have a clear "view" of the sky to get the signal.

Default You must be a little confused because both use ground repeaters....I work for Delphi, I know this to

be a fact. I talk to the SDAR guys every day. In fact, since I work at the GM Engineering facility here in Warren, MI, they have boosted the ground repeater's signal to our area, so the big shots on the top floor can get a strong singal inside the building. If it were only Satellite signal only, then you wouldn't be able to get a signal inside buildings and garages, which is possible in Warren. Read their sites, they even state they use repeaters.

As far as the annoying DJ's go and repeating songs, XM has the same issues. They both do. I guess the song quality depends on which station you listen to, because I used the blitzsafe adaptor for both and each system didn't sound CD quality, not by a long shot.

I had the original Pioneer XM system and the original Kenwood Sirius system. I know XM has done some updates since I had their service, so I would bet it sounds better then when I had it back when they first launched.

Default here's their respective sites with info on the repeaters....

You won't notice the repeters if you live in flat country like Indiana or Kansas because they probably don't have any in your area.

Default Yes, I know they both use repeaters, but it depends on the area in which you live.

I should have clarified that, sorry, too tired.

I live in Evansville, IN and neither service has repeaters here, so I'm totally dependent on the Sats for signal.

I also agree that XM has a couple of channels with annoying DJs, but I don't listen to those channels, so it's a non-issue for me. However, the DJs on Sirius' Alt Rock channel were too much for me to bear.

Default OT: I'm putting my Euro plate back on when I get back from next week's vacation....

It will cover up my HUGE rock chip in my front bumper.

Evanstucky, eh? I lived in Indiana for almost 13yrs and never made it down there. Am I missing much?
