Default Your vote for best brake pads?

I'm about to put my Summer wheels back on, and am sick of them getting trashed by the brake dust. Also, the stock pads fade instantly on a single high speed stop. I want pads that fade less, and dust less.

> Your vote and why (if you have tried several brands)?

> Cheapest place to get them?

Thanks.

Default I'm very happy with my EBC Greenstuff V4's. (MORE)

I know there were some problems with the original formulation and rotor warping. I have 4000 miles on mine so far without a hint of problems.

I had Mintex Redbox on my TT and B5 A4 without any problems either.

Brake dust is much reduced with Mintex and even more so with the EBC.

Default Carbotech Bobcats for aggressive street applications (more)...

They have a much higher initial bite than the EBCs (.5 - .55), they are very easy on the rotors, and they resist fade better than the other pads. They are difficult to break down so they will almost never leave deposits on your rotors like the EBCs. The only downside is they perform better after one or two brakes in order to warm them up a bit. Nothing like their race pad though. Cheers! is this install a DIY job? Going to summer wheels in April and considering upgrading the pads also.

Default It's not too hard. There are plenty of instructions around.

I swapped all four of mine in 1 - 2 hours. You are going to want to replace your rotors too if your car has some mileage on it. You could have your rotors machined, but new ones are so cheap.

I swapped mine immediately after delivery of car. I drove home from dealer and start wrenching, so I didn't swap my rotors. It's just couple extra bolts to swap rotors.

I knew I could not take the brake dust, so I had new pads ordered and waiting at home before car arrived at dealer. I was ready to roll with it immediately after pickup.

They are about $150/front $85/rear. Not sure about PN, just call them up.
