Default '05.5 Audi A4 2.0T vs BMW E90 vs MB C230 vs Acura TL vs. Infiniti G35

Ok crew..
Been reading through several forums. Objectively, which is the better vehicle, the nicest, the coolest, etc? Basically, rank 'em and tell me why YOU would buy which...
I woulda added more vehicles (Lexus IS 300..but some are just ugly)

Forgot my ranking:
1) A4...it's the most different. It's not gaudy, but still will attract attention. And I think in your rearview, it has to be one of the scariest things coming up behind you with it's nose.
2)BMW...It's nice...says you got a lil pocket change ...but then again EVERYONE has one!!
3) MB C230..A classy car. The classiest. Looks very old moneyish..I think it SHOWs that you probably wanted an E or S class, but clearly couldn't afford one...
4)Infiniti...Only looks good in coupe form. They give a lot of good stuff standard too.
5) TL...Powerful engine. Trade the upside down "V" for an "H" and you have some accord/civic hybrid. It doesn't look classy at all!!! Just a Honda with a good engine!!

Default here you go.

sounds like cachet is your motivator. it is a philosophical decision you have to make (assuming you can afford the version of each that you'd want). on this forum the answer is obvious... but it's your car. reading between the lines of your post it is obvious that you want an A4. you should get it. you'll never look back.

Default IMO

Infiniti G35: Great looking, better looking in coupe, most bang for your buck.

Audi: New styling is super aggressive and they are FINALLY catching up with the other makers in offering products such as DVD Nav.

BMW: It's a bimmer, not much else can be said. I currently own an E46 coupe and love it. Bangle has KILLED the direction of BMW's. New Coupe/M3 will probably look OK but the sedan blows.

BENZ: Mercedes will always produce top notch cars, however what they offer performance wise for the price is a joke.

Acura: The new TL is very nice and priced well but just not on the same level as the other cars mentioned above.

Oh yeah...it's a done deal. I was going to get the B6 back in Sept until I heard of the B7 with the better engine and the grille took about a week to grow on me. Now I love it. I just wanted to hear peoples' overall comparisons of the cars since I'm sure the comparisons will be in the mags very, very soon. If not with these 5, then with the German 3 or these cars and a few more (read: Cadillac, Lexus, Saab and Jaguar..the usual suspects)

I wrecked my beloved '96 Saturn in December -- hey, for it's class it has great power. I was looking at econo sedans (Mazda 3, Corolla, etc.) until, for the hell of it, I looked at the A4 in a consumer guide. It said the 1.8T CVT started at about $25,000 (dealer invoice). Hmmm, not much more than a well-equipped 3 or Corolla. But I wasn't going to consider some $40k Beemer or Mercedes. So I cleared that mental hurdle. Then I decided the engine wasn't enough and wanted some extras so I checked out the 3.0. This was late December by which time the b7 was coming out. Loved the reviews/changes/specs, etc. So I decided to amortize (don't you love amortization?) a fully-loaded 2.0T over 5 years @ $500 over dealer invoice. So for me, it's got the look and the stuff I need at the right price. I don't care for cachet -- I was happy with my Saturn. There ya go.

Default With value taken into account , my list is ...

1) 2005 G35 6-speed (RWD, 298 hp, by far the best bang for the buck)

2) BMW E90 I assume you mean the 325i and not the 330i. The 2006 325i will have a 215-hp inline-6 engine. The 2.0T Audi/VW engine is nice, but it can't possibly come close to the refinement and smoothness of the Bimmer engine.

3) A4 2.0T
4) MB C230 (nice refresh for 2005 but older than the other cars on the list)
5) Acura TL (270 hp too much for FWD, massive torque steer, but good value for the money)

Default Dood, you come on a Audi B7 board, guarantee it'll be biased against anything but Audi...

And yeah, in my opinion, having owned a 2002 (B6) and a 2005 (B6) A4...and a 2004 BMW 5-series, the Audi is a better car. Can't speak for Acura coz I only had 3 Integras and a 3.5RL in my life, since I have not drive the TL, I can't talk shiet, but I really think you should drive all 3 and go with what speaks to you the loudest. Peas out, Mikey

Default It is conjecture to compare cars just by numbers alone.

Until you you are able to see the cars in person and compare them first hand it would be impossible to make a decision. I t would be akin to bying a stereo without hearing it first. There is much more to a car than HP 0-60 and slalom times. Not that they dont tell you anything but they don't tell you everything.

And the current G35 is not this great value that everyone thinks it is, it's just cheap. The car has a powerful engine and not much else. The interior is filled with cheap plastic, the seat controls are the window switches for the sentra and the fit and finsh is no better than the average japanese car. The awd is nothing special either. Considring the fact that Nissan/Infiniti made one of the greatest AWD sportscars (Skyline) which had active differentials and everything else you could ask for, and now that they give us this bastardized version of it is shameful.

In my opinion the B7 will be hard to top as far as a total package. But until I get a look at the new competing it is hard to say wit any accuracy what the pecking order is.

shouldn't the TL and G35 be compared to the A4 3.2?
