2.0T vs 3.2 Regrets???

I go back and forth on this one like a pendulum. Ultimately, I don't know that I will or won't tune. If I knew for certian that I wouldn't, than I would just go get the 3.2. But saving the extra money is tempting.
I'm going back to the dealer (again.!!) to listen and see if I can live with the sound. I think my dealer thinks I'm the biggest pain in the ****, but I'm the one who has to live with it for the next 8-10 years.

The ecs replacement rotors are 321, but further down the page it does say 320mm, so who knows.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&engine=2.0T&mod el=B7%20A4&submodel=Quattro&category=Braki ng">http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&engine=2.0T&mod el=B7%2

I'd do the 2.0T again in a heartbeat, as long as I got the 6-speed (again). I have mine chipped with APR 91 software, and I enjoy it as much as the day I got it.
But I wouldn't have this motor, as much as I like it, with a Tiptronic. Two things:
1. I've read everything here and talked to the dealership besides, and the automatic just plain has a brief hesitation from a standing start. It's better when in Sport mode, and better again when in Tip, but it's still there, and in my opinion, it's a major flaw. (I had it in my B6 1.8T, but have heard it remains in the B7). Something about deciding which software to run based on how hard you hit the gas.
2. The low-end torque of the 2.0T isn't strong, so when you want to launch a little harder, you don't have the option of blipping past it with the auto like you do with the 6-speed. It can be a little boggy from a standing start. When combined with the aforementioned hesitation, you can get a moment of excitement when you want to turn in front of an oncoming semi when you thought you had plenty of time...
I haven't driven the 3.2 MT6 since they didn't have it out when I was looking, but my friend has the B6 3.0 MT6 and it's really nice. Add 35HP to that? For sure. What's not to like?
One more small thing: on the B6, if you got the small turbo, you couldn't get the car as well-equipped as you could if you bought the V6. Not true on the B7, which is nice. Point is you can option the car equally as well, whichever engine you choose.
Good luck, whichever you choose, and glad you're hanging out here!

3.2 is better if you value refinement over $$ (both in initial extra cost and gas mileage). The sound of the 2.0T that some find annoying can be improved with exhaust (Millteck, in my case). As for sludge, use synthetic and give it reasonable cool downs (don't pull into a rest area from 80 mph and simply switch it off). I have heard of nary a single failure of a 2.0T yet.

Still, I say a matter of personal preference and most importantly a function of what you are comparing it too. Most look at it from the standpoint of 3.2 vs 2.0T, but I see it as A4 vs. BMW 330, a comparison in which refinement becomes a critcal issue. Furthermore, when you start adding chips and Milteks, and suspension and possibly voiding some aspect of the warranty, whatever the precieved advantage in buying a 2.0T has, starts to become irrelavant.
