2.O TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT SCHELDULE
`i went in for 75k service and they informed me the timing belt was due to be replaced. i was dumbfounded. i specifically asked when i bought the car new what the timing belt replacement was on the 2.o and the dealer told me 105k. in my maint scheldule that came with the car it stopped at 85k with no mention of timing belt replacement.when i looked in the 2008 maint.schel of the loaner A4 2.0 they gave me it had it's own separate page to change the belt at 115k. i called audi cust service and they confirmed the belt needs to be changed at 75k. i can't believe with all the history on bad timing belts audi has had that they would have such a glaring discrepancy.
has anyone had a belt fail before 105k?

They must have revised it. Please post if you know anything about this.
My printed 05.5 maintenance schedule does not mention timing belt for the 2.0T. However, the latest maintenance schedule on my Bentley manual says 75k.
One of the 'fancy' new features of this engine was the elliptical sprocket, which was supposed to extend timing belt life. I had also heard that the belt was supposed to last 100k+. So when was this revised lower?

Probably due to the lawsuit about timing belt intervals on the 2000-2003 1.8T
The new timing belt intervals for 1.8Ts are:
- Inspect at 40k
- Inspect at 80k
- Replace at 105k
Audi just sent an owners manual suplement to all registered owners of affected cars (2000-2003 1.8T) which updates the intervals.
I wonder if they will do the same for the 2.0T owners...

The irony here is that revised schedule only hurts the consumer.
There is nothing to inspect. Even if the inspections are done, the tensioner can still fail. Now Audi can say "we sent a letter indicating that you needed to have the inspection done at 40/80K, and you haven't done that".
All this nonsense Audi is distributing doesn't help anyone understand WHEN the belt SHOULD be changed (by doing that they would be admitting the tensioners fail and find themselves liable for all past failures).
The conventional wisdom around AW regarding 1.8T tensioners was 60K. Most cars would make it that far without a failure. Beyond that seemed to be a crapshoot. The 2.0T might be different or the same. So you have a choice. Follow the old wisdom, or become a statistic to formulate the new wisdom (whatever that might be).

2.0T Maintenance Schedule: Timing belt at 75,000
Edmunds.com has a good maintenance schedule to reference. I've only had my car in for two services, but the Edmunds site has been accurate so far.
They list the timing belt at 75,000.

<a href="http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/maintenance.do?step=step2&year=2005&make=A udi&model=A4&style=New+2.0T+quattro+AWD+4d r+Sedan+(2.0L+4cyl+Turbo+6M)&mileage=75000& ;engine=4ITCG2.0&transmission=MANUAL&zip

My 06 says to change it at 75k. Don't the B8's have timing chains which makes them last a billion times longer and not as pricey of a change! I have been thinking about taking out a extended service contract from audi to cover from 55k-105k for $3k. the TB is $1200 alone at the stealership!
