Default 45K service

Took my 08 A4 2.0T in for 45 K service. I was also having an issue of rough idle - was sorta pulsing at idle. Also, I noticed a leak from the valve cover and my oil dipstick had broke. Turned out to be a PCV valve which they also say caused the valve cover gasket to blow out. All items were fixed under warranty.

I asked abt the next service and they said this is a big one at 55k (around $450) - new plugs etc they noted. What are the big items at 55K and can I do these myself??

Yeah, my moms 07 is at about 44800 on the odo and Im going to do the 45k maintenance, I also noticed that the valve cover was leaking but believe it or not all I had to do was tighten the bolts a tad and it seemed to stop. They were very loose. She has a stage 1 apr tune on it but it seems to run strong and feels very quick. Any thing I should know before doing this service?

My valve cover fasteners were loose also - I tightened them up on several occasions but the oil leak continued and actually got worse. The dealer said the bad PCV valve caused the valve cover gasket to blow out.

I dont think the 45k service is much more than an oil and filter change.

It seemed that every time I checked the valve cover fasteners, they were loose - should they have been installed with a thread locker ?? I haven't checked them since the gasket replacement by the dealer. I am assuming that the leaks would also enter the spark plug and coil pack area causing other problems (?)
