Default 500 song limit per SD card?

Did some research and read that each SD slot in the Nav+ can only identify up to 500 songs.

That means a 4 gig SD card, which holds roughly 1000 songs, would only play half of the songs.

That means that only a couple of 2 gig SD card (holding 500 songs each) would be the maximum that I can fit in the system.

Anyone know if this is in fact true?

Default This is correct...

The limit actually seems to be 512 objects, files and folders. 46 Folders with 10 files each (506 objects) were fine (US sw 0110), but the 47th folder wasn't read anymore.

If you are ripping songs with 320k or have fewer but longer songs, a 4GB card makes sense. For everybody else 2x 2GB are more suitable.

Default 4GB may be a problem for SD... should have designed with Memory Stick!

The SD association just came out with the 4GB "High Capacity" spec. At the time the Nav+ was designed, they didn't have the 4GB spec.

Should have designed with Memory Stick!

Default ^^^^^^ Yes ^^^^^^

Then again, you can make super-long mixes and save on directory entries. I don't have SD in my car, but I do on my PDA. When I load it up, I often just make 3 or 4 45 minute mixes. It's not a space issue... but a directory one.
