Default 5K service

Does anyone understand why tire rotation is done only at 5K miles for the life of the car?

Default Only rotate tires once in the life of the car?

Does AUDI only want to have tires rotated once? Does not sound right. Am I missing something?

Default You should have your tires rotated! Audi only does it for free at the first service!

Once the mileage of the vehicle gets above 5k people start to get flat tires, tires replaced, ect. This is why they only do it for free at the 5k.

Default It is not a question of being free

It is not a question of being free, but what AUDI feels is proper maintenance. For example, VW recomends rotation at 10K and every 10K there after.

AUDI only at 5K?

Makes no sense.

Default But VW doesn't pay for it ;-)

In principle I agree with you.

Whether Audi wants to include tire rotation in the Advantage maintenance program or not, tire rotation should be listed in the recommended scheduled maintenance schedule.

That said, there are two groups of car owners:

Those that know and, actually rotate their tires when they should without be told.

And those that won't no matter what the scheduled maintenance chart says.

Frankly, I don't think folks in the second group even read the charts anyway.

Of course they're also the group that bitches when their low profile performance tires are destroyed by 15,000 miles.
