75000 maintance
I just bought A4 avant 2.0t fsi with 99000 miles on it. The original maintance book
calls for timing belt at 75000 miles. When i had check carfax on this car it listed it had it 75000 maintance work done at a local Audi dealer. I call the dealer to confirm it was replace and the service dept. told
me its not due till 105000 and its 1600$ to replace it and the water pump. I check the front of engine for signs on work and found the timing belt cover was off. I believe the clown was bs me to get me in. My question is did Audi change when belt should be done?

I bought a CPO 2008 A4. The manual states timing belt due replacement at 110,000. However my dealer said that it should be done at 75,000 and quoted $1,700. There are several threads on Audi boards about the timing belt and most recommend that you don't wait to 110,000, since a failed timing belt would be catastrophic to your engine. 75,000-80,000 seems to be a common recommendation. I believe there may have been a lawsuit against Audi over the original recommendation and that may have led to the recommendation that the belt be changed earlier.
If your belt was done at an Audi dealer they could confirm the repair and identify what other components were changed. What documentation can you get about the extent of the 75,000 mi service performed on your car?

Having purchased mine below 75k, and reading about countless legal actions online from failures before the 110k recommended mileage I plan to get it taken care of prior to 100k and most likely before 90k.
Since the TB does look good upon inspection (mine and German indie specialist etc) I'm not as worried as some appear in other threads, but I'm not 100% sure on what I will change beyond the belt, idler and pump.
I see that all the major kits include cam seals, and other parts that I am not sure are required to be done, or how much they will increase the labor costs.
Since I will need to get this taken cater of within the next 30-60 days and have no place warm enough (heated garage etc) to DIY and will likely have it done at an indie (500-700 plus parts) sounds a lot better than the 1800 the dealer was quoting with a smile, and don't want to add hundreds to the bill from changing a bunch of stuff that isn't needed since it's going to need other non related repairs soon as well.
So what else really needs to be done during the T Belt service?

No, the interval is still 110k.
Odd that the cover was off. I'd at least give audi a call w/your vin# to see if the TB service was done there before it's scheduled service.
A good mechanic or someone that has done A4 timing belts can tell by the condition of the belt.
