A4 Auto 2.0T jerk/hard shift when braking 2-1 shift

I've had numerous "quirks" with the auto transmission on my 2006 A4 2.0T.
This latest one is when slowing down gradually to a stop. The transmission will change from 2nd gear to 1st gear (around 2-3 mph). There is a noticeable jerk when the shift occurs. For the longest time I thought it was the brakes sticking since it happens under gradual braking. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same issue and what your solution was. I will be bringing it in, but it's good to get all the details.
Thanks

we have the same car...do you hear a click when you press on the brakes (e.g., at a stop light), and then another click when you step off the brake?
thanks...

Don't think it's brake related - it's just coincidence that you have your foot perhaps a little harder on the brake when the downshift occurs. The tip is designed to blip the throttle slightly to match revs when slowing (even more noticeable in S mode). I think it gets a little confused at times and bangs a downshift abruptly when slowing more rapidly to a dead stop through 2-1 gear change. You should have the dealer check it out in case he can smooth it, but for the most part it's part of the experience. It should get better as well as the electronics learn your driving style - mine did.

I wasn't too clear, I know it's not the brakes and it is indeed the gear change from 2-1 causing the jerk.
The thing is, it will sometimes do it for the whole drive and then sometimes not at all. Oh well, we'll see what happens when I bring it in.
Thanks

I kind of got used to it, so I anticipate the 'jerk' by letting up off the brakes a little bit, without even thinking about it. It's a habit I didn't realize I was doing until I drove a friend's car the other day!
The other quirk I have is that when coasting in light traffic (transmission in 4th or 3rd ) it will sometimes come 'out of gear' for a sec, such that if I give it throttle at just the wrong time, it revs up then slams and lurches the car. Oh well... that one's tough to reproduce.
