Default allow myself to introduce ... myself (+ my go at the clear corner mod)

Long time troller, first time poster...

Picked up this 07 Ibis White Avant S-Line brand new back in August. Replaced a well tuned 04 Jetta GLI. Couldn't be happier for making the move. The car is striking to look at and pretty fun to drive in stock trim. In terms of lux and tech. features, for the money, I don't think there's a better ride for me.

Waited to get some mods done before I did an intro. I had installed the Carbonio airbox, but decided to yank it in place for a K&N. Personally, thought the performance was null and the sound was obnoxious. APR program and testpipe will get hooked up in the next few weeks (once the holiday sale starts!).

Being a Michigander, I'm going to sit tight on the suspension 'til Spring. Right now, looking at the Eibach Pro-S coilovers. RS4 sway bar is in the garage waiting to go on.

As you can see from the pics, I've done the clear corner mod. While I was in there, decided to replace all exterior/interior lights. The replacementlist:
- Knocked out the amber & replaced with chrome-amber lights
- Stock 4300k headlights for 6000k Mcculloughs
- Stock fogs for Hoen Xenon Match
- Stock city light with Hoen Xenon Match
- Stock DRL for chrome-bright whites
- Stock license plate for Hoen Xenon Match
- Stock amber corner markers for ECS clear
- Interiors to bright white

Big props to those who did the clear corner mod before me. (Eddie Man, Gorobei, 4Ring4, Sozdemir, etc. etc.)It's apparent that I'm more novice than previously thought. Don't want to get into particulars but the mod took a good half day and then a trip to the dealer to set the bumper right.

Just got the 5K service done yesterday and got the iPod hook up too. This is just the beginning. The momentary project goal is to create an RS4 look-alike, but realize that EddieMan is already there ...

Appreciate all the tips/info. from the forum. Look forward to posting some updates and questions...

(still figuring this pictureposter tish out... more pics in my profile)

Default I'll never understand the drive to remove two small portions of amber.

Personal preference, sure, but I don't get it.

Default Nice.

Interested in your thoughts on the bulb changes, and some pics.
From Michigan as well, and all my modded Audis have been through the worst of what northern Michigan can dish out, including my lowered TT. Your choice of winter tires is much more important than the suspension, imho.

I used to think that I'd get coilovers, and raise them in the winter, lower in the summer. But you know what? That would never end up happening, and if the snow is deep enough that an inch of clearance is a big deal, you're probably not going to be out there anyway. I've driven til the powder was coming over the hood (see below, and yes, slushy or packed snow is a different story) and was just fine with a lowered quattro. It's the tires! In some ways, I think the lowered suspension helps with slippery weather driving by keeping you more planted on the road. When there's a ton of snow buildup, you just stop by a DIY spray car wash and hose it off. Good to get the crusting Michigan salt off the car anyway....

Enjoy it, looks like a sweet ride..

Default It's all about what you can't have

The europeans would rather have the US tail lights that blink red, americans want to swap their red blinking tails for the euro orange blinking tails.

It was only this year that Audi started using B7 headlights without amber. For the first couple of years of the B7 the worldwide headlights have had amber in them, so there are actually more euro cars with amber than without.

You're right, though, it all comes down to personal preference.

Default the daytime running lights in chrome-bright white get too hot and melt the socket, I'd remove them..

if I were you. I already had this and it melted my socket. It seems like the chrome stuff gets too hot if always on. Re: the amber-chrome lights if you switched the setting to Euro and only have the turn signals on when blinking then it should not be problem.
