Default Anyone driven or own of those new 3.6L Passats?

I have been driving an 03 A6 and the warraty expires in a few months. I have been thinking about getting a new Passat since the new A6 is completely out of reach $$$ and the A4 is too small. Looked at the passat and I was very confortable with the size of the car, power of the engine, and quality of the materials. Is is not quite as nice as my 03 A6, but very close. I think the engine itself will make up for everything. I can get a fully loaded brand new 3.6 for $27,000, which I think is a good buy, considering the MSRP is $34K (HIgh end market priced!) Just checking to see if anone has any experiences with the car. I know the dealer expereince might not be the same, but I also know that I am not paying $40+ for a new A6. I live in S. Flroida and I do nto need 4x4

From what I hear the engine is incredible. The exhaust note alone is worth the price of admission. It is a VR6! This is the engine that was supposed to be used in the new R36 that isn't coming for a long while. It is also used in the new Audi Q7. If this car came in a 6spd I'd take it over my A4 anyday! There are some nice options available. 600watt stereo system and sport seats.

Default I drove one during an auto clinic

The 3.6 enigne is definitely powerful, but it seems to be a bit too much power for a FWD car. I could feel the car struggling with all that torque during hard acceleration. The other observation was that the engine noise (a nice one at that) was a little too evident at full throttle. I didn't mind it but if you are after Lexus or Camry levels of isolation, this isn't the car for you. The one I drive had the sport suspension with nice sport seats and aluminum trim and I really liked the interior.

I think it's a great deal at $7K off sticker. If they offered the 3.6 in a stick, I would consider it when my A4 lease is up next year, but I can't get one in auto.
