the dealership is not able to detect it at all as long as you opt for security lockout as well. you merely hold your set button on the cruise control stock and after 5 seconds, the check engine light will begin to flash. if you elect for 2 programs, you can choose up to 4, typically the first program, or when the check engine light is flashing 1 time per second, is your stock mode and you simply let go of the set button. turn the key off and back on and you will see your check engine light and epc light flashing simultaneously. once lights the lights cease flashing, about 3 secs later, start the car and you are in stock mode. to put into performance or "chipped" mode, follow the same procedure but when holding downt the set button, wait till the check engine light flashes 2 times per sec.
to enable security lockout so noone can change programs and your cruise control operates exactly like oem, pull the lever towards you for the resume position and hold it and the check engine light will flash 3 times per sec. let go and the epc and check engine light will flash opposite of eachother, you have now locked it out.
to unlock, enter your secret code by using the + and - positions of the cruise control and you will then be unlocked!

I live in Minnesota and we get lots of snow. I've never felt the need to switch back to stock. Maybe if I had an automatic. APR91 is a nice upgrade but its not like a night & day difference.

of a chip UNTIL the person enters the correct 4 digit PIN sequence. There is no known problems with their program switching software versus the single program option. Also, the "I didnt know" defense is, of course, not a defense.

$599 chip
$219 FlipSwitch (3 programs)
$59 Security Lockout
$877 total!
I paid $499 for just the chip 16 months ago -- pretty reasonable. But I wouldn't do it for the above price. Frankly, the APR91 doesn't feel that much better than the recent dealer flash upgrade. APR should include the FlipSwitch and Security Lockout with the $599 chip -- fu*king leaches.
