Default APR Stage I ECU Upgrade install completed !

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, everyone kept talking about it but none dared so I took the plunge today. After some phone calls to APR I have just arived home from Ingolstadtwest in Canoga Park with the APR Stage I ECU installed in my '05 A4 2.0TQ.
Let me tell you folks, the drive home was waaaay different from the drive to the shop. My baby FREAKIN' FLIES...
Not that it wasn't fast before but now even in the puny "D" mode it accelerates like an X-wing after the bombrun out of the trenches of The Death Star.
Kevan at the Ingolstadtwest shop informed me that the performance will increase after a few runs as the computer will adapt to the new program but I already feel a huge difference.

Here are a few pics of the rebirth of My Baby:

The operation completes without any major complications and the patient is now ready for immediate release..It's ALIIIIIIIIIVE....!

I would like to thank Michael for supervising the operation and Kevan for performing the surgery with the outmost precision and professionalism. If you have a B7 and you live in Southern California I highly recommend the folks at Ingolstadtwest in Canoga Park, they will treat you right and they know everything there is to know about your Audi.

APR and Ingolstadt had the same answer:

The upgrade will not do anything to your car that the engine wasn't designed to withstand.

Oh yeah, the warranty,.. what about it ?

Nope, you get to keep your original "stock" program and the new "performance" program.
they are activated by using your predefined 4 digit pin code.
Using your cruise control buttons you enter your code and can switch between programs.

Unless the dealer or anyone else knows your pin code there is no way of knowing that there is a beast hidden under the hood.

I have a CVT. Do you think it's worth the risk to get this with the CVT?

What risk?

Just make sure you get the "security" installed (pin code) and you should see some great improvements in performance.

Default No, a CVT cannot handle 280lbs of torque. The "stock" program is not your actual stock program...

but a tuner version of stock that they can load at the same time. You cant load the actual stock program and the tuner program on a file like that. The file size will be different if Audi were to insist on having a peak at the ecu. No worries though. If you have a catastrophic failure, just make sure you tuner has your actual stock program on file and have your car privately towed to them and the real stock program reinstalled. cheers! Mike
