APR update
#13
Both the OEM stock program and a tuner program cannot be stored on the ECU together...
Unfortunately it doesent work that way, but what does work is a completely new program that is written by the tuner including a tuner version of the "stock program" that uses similar OUTPUTS to the oem stock program and than also their modified program and even additional 100 octane programs or valet programs if you wish. They are all written in using the tuners encryption method and than flashed to the ecu along with the commands of how they are "switched". If you want to go back to true OEM stock than you just go back to your tuner and ask for a reflash back to stock prior to a warranty visit. Make sure you tuner has this capability. cheers! Mike

For the record..........
We dont give our customers "Similar outputs" we give them EXACTLY the same outputs you would get with the stock program.
We actually compress the maps and reinsert them in the right location when you switch programs.
We are on the forefront of this technology, NO OTHER COMPANY gives you this.
We know of other companies who just turn down some maps to give "stock like" performance..APR gives you ALL STOCK maps.
We also give you a couple of features that will make our chip almost undetectable...
We dont open your ECU leaving the seals that keep the moisture out of the ECU in tact. If you prefered you could also receive a complete stock flash from any of our dealers.
We were the first to develop OBDII flashing for this type of ECU, we dont buy technology/checksums from other companies to make our performance files. We have our own in house development team dedicated to bring you the best technology and the smoothes power that you can purchase for your car.
I hope this clarifies some of the misconceptions.

This is how they do it, they use redirects in the program to jump down to the blank section that
is full of "FF". They then fill these sections with there own version of the performance program. Boost maps, timing, fuel etc... All of the original maps are intact unmodified, so when you switch to stock mode the ECU then uses the original program. Then when you want to go back the program redirects are then turned back on, allowing you to use the program selected

I don't know of any "moisture seals" except the "weather seals" that are on the ecu compartment lid.
which are not a one time use thing. The B5 and B6 ecu have no such seals. The B7 has a security seal that is replaced by those companies that open the ecu with the exact same Audi security seal. It certainly should not be intended as a moisture barrier as you should not be getting moisture in that compartment or you have a world of worries. I remember when dealerships would forget to tighten down the ecu compartment lids and you'd get a nice puddle in the drivers side footwell. cheers! Mike

Makes sense. Just didnt want people thinking it was actually the same program Audi inserted...
as that would give a false sense of security were Audi to read the actual raw code it would be in a compressed format or of a different file size that would not be recognized as stock, but yeah, I understand for dyno purposes it will act the same as stock since it is using the actual stock outputs. Thanks for the info. cheers! Mike
