The latest TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey results have been posted. These are for the year ending December 31, 2007. Thanks to the help of AudiWorld (and JET in particular), these results include two model years of the B7 A4.

For the 2006 Audi A4, we received an average of 5.6 months of data on 39 cars. The stat of 44 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.4 per vehicle) is a little better than average for a 2006 model.

For the 2007 Audi A4, we received an average of 6.4 months of data on 17 cars. The stat of 56 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.6 per vehicle) is about average for a 2007 model. The sample size is low, so this result is asterisked.

That said, it's consistent with the 2006. With VAG products the repair rate tends to follow a U-shaped curve, with the rate often lower in the second year than in the first. At some point (after 4/50?) the repair rate will climb again. But it remains to be seen whether the moderate repair rates of the B7 will continue when the cars are older, or whether they'll be like those of the B6.

Everyone who has been helping out with this research, thank you. Those who aren't yet helping out, please consider doing so. It would be nice to get rid of that asterisk and include the 2008 in future updates. The current results already include some 2008s months ahead of any other source.
