B7 interior vs. '02 B6

Almost 4 years has past and it's now time to return my still perfect 02 1.8T for a new one. I drove a 2.0T Avant over the weekend, but found the interior not as rich as what I currently have! Not sure if it was the colour difference, mine being Platinum and the one I tested Ebony. Aluminum trim didn't look the same. Armrest was too high and didn't tilt down as mine does, and don't get me started on those awful cup holders in the middle, what an eye sore.
Is it just me?

i like the fact that the cup holders are usable in the b7 (however i dont have drinks in my car so its meaningless to me)
aside from that... id say the interior is 100% identical...
so i don't think you can like 1 more than the other...
your b6 is beige interior with aluminum trim ? ... i personally think that looks kinda funny

Different cup holders and a nav screen... Must say I liked the "look" of the B6 steering wheel more but the B7 feels better to the touch... Quality is still there...

they screen a pattern onto the aluminum, and the pattern changed slightly. I also felt that the alignment with the trim on the door panels was not quite as good as on the B5, actually.
I know exactly what you mean about the armrest - feels different on the B5, B6, and B7 - strange - however I agree with others that the cupholders (while not attractive as you said) are a worthwhile addition, as American-size drinks don't belong hanging off the dash over the radio and in front of a vent...

there's no button. The armrest locks in place the further up you tilt it. You need to raise the armrest close to vertical before you can lower it all the way down. THEN, you can raise it up slowly until you get it to the height you want.
Personally, I think I prefer the button in the B6....
