Default hmmmm smaller pulleys ECU Re-Flash....Much more tuning potential

than the outgoing V8....should be interesting.

Default No kidding...

This one's rich:

"5) Not long before BM use a supercharger?? Well, i'm afraid that's pure speculation. The reason BM are using twin turbo's (as i'm sure you know) is to eradicate turbo lag, something which no doubt Audi will have to be very careful with re their new supercharged unit."

Heh, really, dude? The fool would be wise to keep his mouth shut, lest he open it and remove all doubt.

Yeah. I've never heard of supercharger "lag" being an issue

Default That's the advantage of Supercharger, the blower is tied DIRECTLY to

Engine RPM...Idiot, but there is less tuning potential than a twin turbo setup.

Default Well, I anticipate it will be a clutch-driven setup, like MBZ's blown motors

so that it is less parasitic on the highway and gentle cruising, keeping MPG up. Though, it didn't seem to even be noticeable in the C32 AMG (also a supercharged V6).

The sad thing, though, is that this engine's HP output is only 1 more than that AMG motor that came out in 2002! On the other hand, the Audi motor is supposed to have 400 ft-lbs of torque, and I imagine that will be a pretty flat curve since it's being artificially limited. The C32 only had about 332 ft-lbs if memory serves me right.

C32s can be put in the low 12s with some simple modding (tune, intake, pulleys, exhaust). If this new S4 can make low 12s, or *gasp* 11s, I don't think we'll see too many people complaining... except about blowing up the transmission.

Default Roots blower?

The article mentions that it is a "Roots" blower. I wonder if this is the case, as the traditional roots blower is old technology...a "screw type" is a newer and more efficient design. I'll leave it to you to Google the various designs, but I hope they use a "screw" type (i.e. Lysholm)
