Default Buying the first audi

Im 19 years old, I live in new york where we get all kinds of weather. I drove my friends 2003 a4 1.8t 5 speed and fell in love. I want the car more than anything but I'm questioning if it would be a good idea to buy one. I understand if you maintain it with the oil change and what not every 3000 miles and dont beat on it the car will take care of you. But my friends as nice as it was had all sorts of electrical problems. I'm wondering how bad it's going to be (on average of course because nobody is a future teller) to make repairs. Brakes, timing belt, oil changes. And if theres anything else that is common I would like to know. I just found a 2006 a4 2.0 with about 85K on it for $12,000 and I'm willing to make the offer if someone with good advice can push me into being an Audi owner!

I am on my 3rd Audi. I just traded in my 2001 A6 wagon for a 2006 A4 2.0T, and I have had a 2007 A4 wagon for 2 years, which I bought with 55K miles on it. I have had very good luck with mine, but when something goes wrong, it is expensive to fix. So, it's something to be aware of, especially as the cars go over 100K. There are things that will break (e.g. turn indicator, valve cover gaskets, CV boots) that regular oil changes won't prevent. Just FYI, the 2006 I bought today from a dealer was $15,500 with 41K miles (and came out to less with the trade). Definitely look for lower mileage. It will be worth it! I know city miles are not the same as highway miles, but I think if you are looking at something with 85K on it, expect it to get expensive in another year or two.
