Can I just replace springs and not the shocks?
I am looking to just lower my car. I have a 2008 B7 A4 2.0T. Can I just put in sport springs and fix my alignment and just wear out my stock shocks? or is it worth it to just get sport springs and shocks installed at once?
Any recommendations for either?
Thanks in advance

Yes, but it isn't ideal.
The stock dampers are underdamped for most aftermarket lowering springs. This will result in a ride that's a touch more bouncy, and ultimately causes the shocks to wear quicker.
At the worst case, the ride can become unsafe due to the additional bounce.
We generally recommend replacing shocks at the same time.

Re: Yes, but it isnt all that bad
I put the HR's on my 2006 A4 2.0 6speed S-Line about 4 months ago. Once the car settled down on the springs, it worked well. I disagree that the whole spring/shock thing needs to be done at one time. There is no evidence that this needs to be done all at the same time, when it should be done, or even IF it needs to be done. I will concede however, that when the car becomes to be a little unwieldy, I will take care of the shock thing. For me this works, a little mod cost at a time.
Just my $0.02.
Just my $0.02.

Factory sport springs use the same shock as stock springs, right?
I've got the $250 sport spring option on my 07 avant. Doesn't say anything about different shocks as being part of the deal.

Yes, many have run just springs but you're already paying for labor while they're
in there taking out everything. Why pay labor twice (unless you want to) for them to go in and change out the shocks later on?
Your shocks are tuned for the springs that came with your car. By putting on the lowering springs, they aren't paired properly, putting more stress on the factory shocks.
There have been members that have worn out shocks much quicker (than what they should last with sport springs and shocks from factory) because they've gone with just springs and not shocks at the same time.
