I had an Audi before and the check engine light would come on all the time and go away under certain circumstances, never the same ones; however, the car never broke down. I just bought a 2007 A4 and after a day this light came on. Should I be worried to the point of not driving it? The car runs fine and when click on the button to check for issues all comes Ok. The engine rattles a bit but really the car runs well. Paid 6K.
Any advice/comments are appreciated.

Need to do a diagnostic scan to find out what codes are associated with the CEL. Once you know what's causing the problem you can decide whether further repair is needed. Cars these days have a ton of readings that are continuously monitored and trigger the CEL light when outside factory spec - on the past without that CEL, nost folks never knew something needed to be checked.
Find someone in you area with a VCDS cable who can do the scan for a couple of beers or find a trusted Indy dealer to do it for you.
