Default Cleaning those *&#!% exhaust tips

After neglecting to clean my exhaust tips for a year, I decided to do it today. As you know, soap and water does nothing to clean the black carbon off the stainless steel tips

I managed to get excellent results in about 15 minutes of work with half a sheet of wet/dry 600 grit silicon carbide sandpaper.

Basically, you need a container of water to rinse the paper as you polish the black crap off the tip. Mine are now near-mirror finished.

Default chrome cleaner didn't work

Chrome cleaner did nothing for me...we're are talking a year of build up here. Chrome cleaner will be fine going forward...as long as I don't wait a year again!

600 grit SiC paper is very fine. You don't really "sand" so much as polish with it. It's useless on wood, it's used to polish and smooth metal. No harm at all.

Aluminum cleaner might be better than chrome cleaner. I used that first, then chrome.
