Cleaning Wheels

Cleaning Wheels
Hey Everyone,
I need some advice on any product(s) that can clean the inside of the wheel. Like many of you I wash my A4 regularly and regardless on how spotless the exterior is, seeing the brake dust on the inner part of the wheel drives me crazy.
Thanks.

Re: Cleaning Wheels
I recently bought a lambswool brush for cleaning the inside of the wheels. It isn't cheap but seems to work very well. It will not get between the split spoke wheels on my A4 but will get the rest, including the very inside of the wheel that you would normally have to remove the wheel to get to. It is Item #: MF-2C at www.properautocare.com Cheers.

I have my own strange method that has been working...
Take the wheels off and clean them really really well using cleaner. After the wheel dries completely, take Turtle Wax or some other carnuba wax and wax the wheels like you would the car. Wait, wipe off, and buff. Do this to the spokes, the inside hub, and the back of the spokes (i.e. anything that isn't covered by a tire). Re-install the tire. From now on, when the wheel gets dirty and you go to clean it, all you need is a wet cloth and the brake dust wipes right off really easily. I can usually get 6 months out of a wax, but I also have summer and winter wheels, so I wax before each set goes on. I like this method. It makes life easier.
As a side note, I noticed that the brakes on the B7 are much larger than the B6 brakes. I went to go wash my gf's car, and I kept cutting my hand on the brake (which in retrospect was probably the dust shiedl thing on the back). I'm used to running 18's and small brakes in the summer so I can fit my hand in with no problem, but the double spoke 17's posed a little problem in the front. But maybe your hands are smaller so it may work. But nonetheless, waxing helps. Sorry for the long diseration.

Get a sponge-on-a-stick used for cleaning drinking glasses...
You can get a sponge-on-a-stick at Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, etc. Don't get one with scrubbing pad or bristles, just a soft sponge ball on a stick.
I use a regular war wash brush on the face of the wheel and the sponge-on-a-stick to get to the sides of the spokes and inside of the wheel.
I've tried lost of wheel cleaners as well as Simple Green, they all work about the same so long as you only use them on cool wheels, and rinse within 30-seconds or so.

P21S Wheel Cleaner
Not so sure that I'd use Simple Green. Too many reports of people claiming that it can/does each through the clearcoat if used improperly

http://www.p21s.com/products/bis_wc1.html</a

I use a bone sponge through the spokes... but I take the wheels off clay them and wax them twice
per year. Don't use ANYTHING on your wheels that you would'nt use on your paint. As your wheels are painted and clearcoated...
