Hello - I currently have a B6 and am looking to upgrade to a B7. I noticed that some of the B7s have color information display screens in the center of the dash and others dont.... why? Some without navigation dont have the color screen. I saw that you buy the navigation on eBay for around $1000 but didnt see anyone selling the color info screen... is it possible to switch this in?

Color DIS was standard in 05.5 and optional afterwards. Cost about $1000 to switch in.

I am not speaking definitively here, but my recollection from when I was doing the research to retrofit an RNS-E unit was that the color DIS was difficult to retrofit and required some type of recoding to get everything to work together.

and it's not difficult, it just requires a dealer to do the swap because the imobilizer has to be coded properly.
