$199 seems like a lot for a little less static. I bought an third generation ipod before ipods were really popular. Unfortunately, all of the new accessories that have come out for the ipod due to its popularity are for fourth generation ipods and later that use a docking station. I have the tape car adapter that plugs into the headphone jack on my 3g ipod and am fairly happy with it besides the small loss of quality due to the tape. Anyways, I just purchased to new ipod nano with a gift certificate I had from ecost.com and was looking at the Dension Ice Link to use as a car adapter. One of main features I was hoping to have with the ice link was the text display on the car radio. I have the audi symphony stereo and from what i've found out the ice link doesnt display the ipod text on the stereo. So basically I've come to the conclusion that the only difference between the tape adapter and the ice link is a little less static and the use of the steering wheel controls, which don't get me wrong are very beneficial. I am just not sure that its work spending $200, almost the cost of the nano. Plese somebody try to change my mind.

yes, it is. For one, once the software is ready you can upgrade icelink to read id tags, second head unit controls the ipod, steering controls control most funcions, you dont have to use cd changer, sounde is definitelly better.

It is definatlly worth it if you love your music. I had to put up with static from itrp in my Cayenne S before this vehicle and have to say after all the frustration of static through my favourite songs, 199 was a bloody bargain!

I have no idea whether they have a dedicated port for the satellite, or if it runs off the external CD changer port.
Would I have to disconnect XM to use an Ice Link?

For Non-nav systems (dunno about Nav+), you could also use a behind-the-radio Blitzsafe adapter which would provide a line level input (uses the CD changer connection)

I have one installed on another vehicle and am currently waiting for an Audi S4 that I have on order.
The IceLink is very convenient for several reasons. First, you don't have to worry about pluging in wires. You can just drop it in the cradle and you're done. So it takes about 1 second to insert and remove your ipod.
Second, it works like a CD player in that it stops the ipod automatically when you turn off the car and starts the ipod where it left off when you turn on the ignition.
I'm definitely going to be getting an IceLink when my S4 comes in.
