Default DIY: Installing Rain Tray Cover and Battery Cover (B7)

The before pic below of my Audi 2007 A4 2.0T (B7) shows what the engine area looked like prior to installing the larger rain tray cover and battery cover. Whenever I washed the car the top of the battery would be covered in water.

The after pic below shows the engine area after installing the larger rain tray cover and battery cover. Not only does it now look cleaner and visually more pleasing to the eye, no more water on the battery.

Before installing the larger rain tray cover, the existing (passenger side) corner cover in the “before pic” must first be removed. I lucked out dealing with a real nice parts person who came out to the car to make sure the part would fit even before buying it. He ended up actually installing it for me. It took less than 5 minutes.

FYI: I was able to find both of the above-mentioned parts on ECS Tuning. Here is the link: http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/8e181944701c/ES6972/

NB: For my B7 the larger rain tray cover was used and differs slightly with what shows up on ECS even though they have the same part number. However, if you read the note below the pic of the battery cover in the lower-right corner of the ECS page, they say the battery cover is for the larger rain tray cover. However, I don’t know if they sell the larger rain tray. You will have to check with them.

Default keeps it clean too

The new cover does a good job of keeping leaves, pine needles, and other junk out of the battery area. Before I put it in, stuff used to accumulate in there pretty easily.

I got mine from here http://audi.bernardiparts.com/search.aspx for just over $50 shipped. They are close to me though so shipping might be higher if you are further away.

Part Numbers I used:
8E1-819-447-01C
8E1-819-422-A-01C

Cheers

Thanks for the link. I have included it in my list of Audi resources for future reference. The prices look so good too, especially when you are North of the Border. There has to be a super special happening in order to make it worthwhile because once you take into account: the exchange, added delivery costs, and customs duty, it may be about the same Canadian price, if not more!

Thanks for adding other very good reasons to install the rain/battery/leaves/pine needles/and miscellaneous junk covers.

Drop a line to let us know how things went and how you like the new look. Worth every penny I think.
