Default do the A4's come with synthetic oil in them from the factory..??

I ask because 5k miles till first oil change seems impossible on fossil oil.

Yes, IIRC some say german syntec and some say pentosin. Either way synthetic.

K...looks like I wont be bothering changing it earlier since its a lease....whats IIRC?

AFAIK it is Castrol TXT which is synthetic. T.

Its Castrol GTX Magnatec 5w40 Synthetic . . . nothing that can be sourced over here.

Default FWIW...my sales guy (knowledgeable) did say it was a "break-in" fluid

Sounds from posts to your question it is a synthetic. I have just over 4000 miles and the oil is DIRTY looking. Even though a lease, it bothers me just from a "don't want to abuse the machine" point of view. Thinking to go in for an oil change as soon as I can get there. If I owned I would definitely do first change before 5000 maybe at 2500 or 3000. ALSO just fyi...dealer is also recommending Mobil 1 synthetic for any turbo Audi (wife leases TT), though Audi service is not providing Mobil 1 automatically. Again, if I owned I would probably request Mobil 1 and pay any differential on the cost out of my pocket.
