Audi driver mag just arrived this morning with the 2.0 TFSI quattro sportback with superchip mod.

They said power went upto 241 bhp, with 235 lb torque. They clocked 0-60 mph at 5.8 seconds, and 0-80 at 8.5 seconds, the same as the new S4!

Default No 6MT B6 S4 is that slow - don't have numbers on B7...

BTW, you just lost your warranty with the chipped engine.

Default B6 S4 manual is 5.0 seconds according to most tests, considerably faster than a chipped A3...

... Nevertheless, with the 2.0T's new refinement (less turbo lag, less vibration etc) and the new options on the 4 cylinder models (DVD Nav etc), a chipped 2.0T A3 or A4 will be a fantastic deal for the money. That is, if you don't mind risking voiding your warranty.

I had a chipped A4 1.8T a while back and had no problem servicing my car. This was mostly due to the APR chip's ability to be reset to 'stock' mode on the fly. The dealership had no idea.

Default actually dealers can sometimes tell when the chip has been reset, etc...

however, there is an unspoken rule that audi likes dealers to be supportive of the idea and not void warranty unless there is real damage to the engine in some way. this isn't reassuring when you want to chip. the best thing to do is to ask your local dealer how they feel about it or ask your local audi noobs...

in europe ABT chip upgrades are actually sold through the dealers and do not affect the warranty in any way.

Default No guaranty same "policy" will continue with future engines.

The story is you'll need a code to change Factory programming. Plus, the entire engine management program will need to be rewritten. Chips should be more expensive because of all this. Finally, the ECU is reported to store all programming changes allowing a dealer to download all such changes. If this is all correct, dealers will be able to tell what you've done and when you've done it, even if you restore everything before bringing the car in for service.

Default According to APR's site, Audi of Hawaii is an APR dealer

Does this mean that they honor the full warranty on cars that they've modified (including stage 3, etc.)?<ul><li><a href="http://goapr.com/Audi/dealer/index.html">http://goapr.com/Audi/dealer/index.html</a</li></ul>

Default yes, but you need to buy the APR mods from them at a huge inflation in price.

For example, when you buy a chip, they charge you an extra hours of labor (at $110/hour IIRC) at book rate for removal, installation and road test. They won't let you just drop off your ECU.

A chip probably cost about $850.
