ECU flash on Automatic?

Re: ECU flash on Automatic?
CVT is where your problem is, not that it's just an automatic. You will feel the torqe which is where most of the gain is. Could be just me but there's something about CVT(multitronic)that, when it comes to chips sounds risky.

Re: Is that CVT Multitronic or Tiptronic 6-speed? FWD or AWD? It makes a difference.
it's AWD...
as far as the other question, I'm not 100% positive (i know, i sound like an idiot). it's the B7 Quattro, never heard of CVT, is there a way for me to check for sure?

chipping a CVT equipped car is risky. Its not the same as the tiptronic tranny...
the B7 has been beefed up a bit from the version in the B6. Several guys here have chipped it with no issues whatsoever. Who knows, the cvt might be capable but like I said it's a lot riskier then if you had tip tranny.

You can chip a Quattro. That's a tiptronic.
The FWD automatic tranny is a CVT with a manual shifter. That's a multitronic, and those have proven to be somewhat less reliable when chipped -- and real expensive to fix.

Multitronic is a registered trademark for CVT - a FWD tranny. Quattros use Tiptronic.

The FWD automatics in B6/B7 cars are Multitronic CVT transmissions with manual selectors that look and operate like a Tiptronic to simulate six fixed gear ratios in manual mode.
The AWD "Quattro" automatics have conventional automatic transmissions with "Tiptronic" manual shifting.
