Compare the tire pressures. Good chance the loaner was running higher pressures to make it feel like the handling was tighter and more responsive.

I agree; when i picked up my 06, the tire pressure was set to 47psi (way to high, IMHO). I backed off the pressure to 36psi, and there was a noticable difference in ride (not as crisp handling, but smoother overall on the 55mi each way to work) ....

I test drove both in the same day...back to back
I couldn't feel any difference at all. If I didn't look at the sticker I would have had no way of knowing which car was the 2006. I agree with other posts that thought the difference might have been the tire pressure.
