Default hard to start when cold and rough idle

hi everyone

my car seems to have a problem when it's close to freezing point, the engine can turns for a few seconds before starting, but when it's hotter outside say 10c it's fine .

is it the temperature sensor (thermostat)?

audi says it's normal problem

can't beleive i pay that much money for a car that can't start well...

and when it's hot you stop at a light and has this rough idle which is not always intense but gets on my wife's nerves any suggestions?
the engine is a 2L.T

I don't live where it gets that cold so I can't speak to it personally but I have heard others complain about the cold start issue. I think there was a computer flash at one point that was supposed to help.

About the rough idle, mine has that too. I just had it in for service and after a day with the car SM Audi couldn't figure it out. They said not to worry about it. I plan to have my regular mechanic look into it at some point. I think as far as the dealer is concerned if it doesn't throw a trouble code the problem doesn't exist.

I had the same issue with rough idle. You should research PCV fixes for Audi's. I went with the basic PCV fix from BSH speedshop. Fantastic fix. It also solves the oil spewing from the cap issue. The car even runs smoother when throttling at low speed. There are probably other companies out there that make similar products, this is just the one I went with.

BSH PCV fix sucks. After I had it installed, the erratic idle problem went away, but while driving the car felt like it was going to stall when I came to a stop. Also, it messed with my turbo. I wasn't getting any boost after installing it professionally. I went with the new OEM Pressure Regulator Valve (PCV) which by the way was $15 cheaper from the DEALER, and all my troubles went away.
