Has anyone swapped aluminum trim for wood? Cost?

I went to my old Audi dealership today to check out a few cars. The S-line which I liked had some paint damage -- I could have overlooked that for the right price. But the manager told my salesman that the car sold this morning. I was pretty annoyed because I made a special trip out there to see the car.
But back to the point of my post, on the topic of the alum trim... I saw several CPO 2.0T cars with the alum trim -- and on EVERY ONE of them, the drivers' side door trim was pitted and marred. The salesman suggested that the seatbelt might have hit it. Okay, maybe one careless driver did that. But I saw at least 3 cars with f*cked up door trim. My 1998 A4 has 120k miles and the aluminum trim looks BRAND NEW. Is there something different about the trim, or is it possible that there were just that many careless people that messed it up?
The S-line car had brushed trim, which was in good condition.
Thanks,
P.

All have been 24-month lease returns. It's really shocking how much people can abuse a car in two years. Maybe I am a paranoid owner, but my car is about 99% new after two years.
Exterior flaws, I can understand. But the condition of the interiors is a sign of just how careless people are with their cars. Maybe people treat their leased cars worse?

It's about 8" long and a couple inches wide. I cracked it when removing the knee pannel under the steering wheel. My dealer wants $198.60. I almost swallowed the phone.

I have aluminum trim on my '07 2.0T S-line and am looking to trade it out for the dark wood trim. Oh yea...Quattro btw.
