Default Hoping to hear about 2.0T performance evaluations soon!

Compared to our 1.8T's.... would like to know if these engines are SMOOTHER, QUIETER, and if more powerful, by how much? Also would be interested in hearing about throttle imputs. Hesitation? Turbo lag? All in comparison to the current 1.8T. This will help me determine whether the new 3.2 V6 is something worth considering or not.

Default Let me answer that for you.

THe 2.0 is FREAKING AWESOME!!
No Turbo lag at all. Once you hit 4k the car really starts to open up.
it's a little bit like driving a TT 180.
Very smooth engine, quiet. It has 30 more HP and 40 more Torque than the 1.8T and you do feel the difference.
I was very surprised when I first drove that car how smooth it was, and with the new suspension and steering, it really hugs the road.
You'll be very happy with this engine!!

Default Sounding impressive so far, but...

One of the car mags who recently tested it liked it too for it's power. But they did state the engine note sounded "gutteral" at low RPM's. That is how I feel the 1.8T sometimes sounds. I also think our engines get a bit rough on the higher revs. I once drove a Lexus ES300 a few years ago and the engine was so smooth and silent it was like ripping silk. While I realize Audi is after a sporty role and Lexus is after a luxury role, the smoothness of the Lexus engine was addicting. I found myself wanting to floor it just to feel the turbine rush of power. Thus, I was considering the V6 rather than the four in my next A4. Lot's to research still!

Default Drive it first; you'll be quite impressed!

Funny thing is that it sounds like a Diesel at idle..
Kind of cool!

I like the sound of diesels too! What's the 2.0T's mileage rated at with CVT?

Alex, why no change on the S4 engine?

Default one can only put in so much on development

it was developed fully for the S4 application. they spent time and money on the B7 chassis, etc, and the RS4.

next major revision for S4 engine will be on the B8 (400 hp from what my sources say). remember audi announced quite clearly it was spending more time on weight savings and handling issues than it had before. this is it's new direction. and it is a logical one.
