Default How accurate is edmunds.com or other internet information on pricing our car

Hello All,

I'm trying to have a new car soon.
Basically I know what I want and ready to make a deal, but I just need one thing...
Invoice price.

One dealer verbally promised with certain amount over invoice.
When I actually received dealing price on the paper, it didn't look right.
It was much higher amount than what I expected.

I got the invoice information from Edmunds.com and from what I experienced before (dealing my current car and with my friends' cars), the dealer will say their invoice amount is different than what I have.
Of course it will be higher than what I have.

Is there anyway that I can find out it's true or they're trying to rip me off?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Default I think KBB is pretty accurate.

I got my B7 for "invoice" and when I ran the car as specc'ed against the KBB invoice figure, it was ~$200 less than what I paid.

Default Re:so that means a dealer invoice amount is higher than KBB, right?

I tried KBB, edmunds, and msn.auto. They all have same number. So I can pretty much believe those sites have correct information, but the dealer always has higher invoice price...

sounds to me like the dealer wants to make a bit more money or is factoring in "other fees"

Default exactly. I figure they padded the "invoice" number they gave me by a couple hundy.

Not enough to **** me off, but a little extra for them. What's a couple hundy on a $40k car?
