Default how exactly do the automatic rain sensors/wipers work..

does it project some kind of a beam onto a small portion of the windshield and calculate how many drops and decides that if it's too many then it will WIPE or not.... am I close...?

Default isnt it just when the rain hits the sensor on the windshield... the wipers go...

so the faster the rain (more frequently it hits the windshield) the faster the wipers go...

if you use rainx washer fluid... you will find that you really never really "need" the wipers...

i love the stuff ever since switching over to that ($1.99 for a gallon) my wipers have slid perfectly, but more importantly it repells the water so nicely that i find i hardly need to use my wipers anyway... ie if i had rain sensing wipers id want to turn it off

Default wow so basically i hit the concept right ont he button...nice...now how well do they work?

I find myself constantly regulating the intermittent wipers as the rain intensity and the speed that my car drives through the rain changes...it's a PITA and I wonder how rain sensing wipers fair in such conditions...

Default I really like it...

It really works well in my opinion. It's neat to pull up behind a semi-truck and watch them speed up to keep up with the mist produced by the truck. If you don't like the sensitivity of the wipers you just have to move them one knotch up and they react quicker.

Default Me too, and believe me it is RAINY here in the Seattle area

I've given this feature a real workout. Occasionally it will be a little too slow, but it uaually catches up.
