forget the k04 with the tranny. It would not be safe without a level ten upgrade

Default You are right. Actually, ZF says the 6HP26A is good for 600 Nm, not 650 Nm..

See link.<ul><li><a href="http://www.zf.com/content/en/import/zf_konzern/startseite/produkte/ProductContentPage.jsp?resultUrl=http://www.zf.com/content/en/import/zf_konzern/startseite/produkte/ProductContentPage.jsp&amp;applicationGroupID=&amp ;sessionAttribut

Default That would be great if we had 6HP26A, but...

We have 6HP19, good for only 400Nm or ~295lbft

The APR K04 setup is on the edge, but if I had a Tip it wouldn't stop me.

Default EDITED: Interesting that the 6HP19/A isn't even shown on the ZF website anywhere...

Therefore, I can only conclude that the 6HP19A does not actually exist as a seperate distict transmission. I think that the 6HP19A is most likely a derated version of the 6HP26A.

Default Yeah, that confused me too. I have a copy of an email from ZF verifing that the 19A is good for

420Nm (~310ft/lbs)input torque.

Well, if that's direct from ZF, then that answers that question for sure.

Default That suggests to me that the difference between the two may be minor....

and upgrading the 19A to withstand higher input torque may only require a parts substitution.
I am sure the S4/RS4 does not use the 6HP"19"A version of the 6 speed trans, and the physical appearance of the trans used would be indistinguishable from the outside.

I'm not 100% on this, but the 19 is the front wheel drive and the 19A is the all wheel drive.

Default 2nd that. ...

For example, the difference between the 19A and the listed 26A may only be the torque rating of the torque converter clutch used. Speculative, I know, but that would not be inconsistent with industry practice. The service factors used to calculate the ratings, are very conservative usually. I would think that the complete re engineering/production of a totally different transmission would be unlikely, and not economically justified.
