My car is a 2.0t quattro, 6pd manual. The oil sample was in the car from 5300 miles to 9800, so about 4300 miles on this sample. The oil used was Elf Excellium LDX 5W-40.
Basically the report said that everything was fine and that the motor definitely appears to still be going through break-in during this time, thus the fact that the iron count was a little on the high side at a value of 54 versus the universal average of 36. Fuel was also a little high at .8% but still was within the desired range of <2.0%. The labs attributed the fuel content to possibly frequent city driving. It IS kind of interesting since others have felt that the FSI could be contributing to this as well. Flashpoint for this sample was 360*F. For those interested in possibly running longer than a 5k change interval, you'd probably be interested to know that the lab reported a high content of active additive left in the oil, at a TBN of 5.6 (1.0 is considered low). The lab felt that the next interval could probably be longer if I wanted, and that the iron level would be expected to be lower next time around.
I switched to Elf Excellium DID 5W-40 this time, just for comparison's sake since it's also approved for our motors. I'll do another report at the next change just to see what's going on.
Obviously there's really no need to do all this, but since I was curious I figured what the hell. It's only about $30.

I just had my oil changed about 3500 into my next service do to crank case ventilation problems. The oil was so black and nasty looking I had to change it.... I would have hated to test that one.
Now that the car is fixed and breathing well again I will test at the next change.
