Default i hear you, i came to that conclusion basing the fact

that if a fuse blew it could have reset something in the ecu triggering the upload to get corrupted. since our ecu's are like computers and the software is nothing but files and folders theres always a possibility. not to mention it would be free and one more thing checked off the "hmm" list..

Default Re: agreed - that sounds like a grand failure of some kind, ...

The car is being flatbedded to the shop as we speak. Audi will have a field day with this. Now i have to think of a good way to make sure this is all covered under warranty.

Default thats a tough one, but check this out though..

warranty work is just as valid to the tech as a customer paying for the work. most techs what they would do is either
1) find out what the problem is and fix it or
2) if they are horrible and cant find out what the issue is, they will blame it on hose leading into the drilled hole and plead probable cause if they actually find it.
most of the time they take the challenge because of the spiff or whatever they get for completing that task aside from hourly rates.good luck

Default Similar story with my 2002 a couple years ago...

I had the dealer swap out my ecu under warranty. I think they did a ****-poor job with it. I will never return to them again. In any case the water came in and fried a "power module" according to them. BY this point I was beyond the warranty, and ended up paying over 2K to have the work done. But practically the same situation...rainstorm, water on the leg, eratic behavior. All of my lights would come on/go off at random. The wipers would wipe randomly very slowly. Needless to say it was a sad irritating day...All thanks to my local dealer. It just goes to show you a leak in that area can lead to electrical failure.

Default Re: If you left an opening when installing the boost guage then yes...

Well just heard back from the dealership. The opening that i left after the boost gauge install causes water to build up on the wiring house/ecu houseing which may or may not have fried my wiring harnesses. I have a 750 dollar bill and thats only for the diagnosis and rapair of the water damage on the rug. I am pissed. I guess i need to stop trying to do my own mods. Better to pay at first then to really pay later!

They are giving me the same line. a "convenience module" is fried and some of the wiring harnesses are shot. I am not sure what these things are but its already getting expensive and nothings fixed.

Water came in from the ECM box when you ran the boost gauge. You didnt properly reseal the box or cracked it when taking it off. The reason the EPC light is coming on and you cant accelerate is more than likely due to the pedal assembly being shorted out by the water. I have seen it on a couple of cars now where people have messed with the ECM box.
