Hello,
I have a 2005.5 3.2 quattro and was wondering should my instrument panel automatically turn on? so as to where I see my MPG, DTE, and other settings... if so is there a way to turn on when I start the car so that I don't have to press the reset button on the wiper arm every time I start the car?

The reset button, in conjunction with the the toggle button on the end of the stalk, can leave you with the cluster in one of the three modes - Display Off, Trip Computer 1, Trip Computer 2.
That's how it works on my B7 2008 2.0T - whichever mode I'm in when I turn the car off, is the one it starts up with.

Mine starts up with nothing on the screen no matter where I leave it I have to press the reset 2 times for it to pop up the list and turn on the display to get the MPG or trip monitor 1 or 2
